The illustration, Kafka by Huib Fens, is the first image in a new series of paintings and photographs about writing tables and work spaces of both known and unknown writers, composers and other artists. In the paintings Fens tries to deal with problems in relation to the creative process, like the fear of the white sheet (horror vacui), the basic material needs of the artist, imagination and the influence of environments.
